About Us
Yaku was founded in 2017 as a startup to reuse greywater through a biofilter.
BRIEF REVIEW
Yaku was born out of concern for the environment and the waste of drinking water in our everyday lives.
As a team of Chilean women scientists, we saw the opportunity to use environmental microorganisms capable of purifying gray water naturally, without the need to use polluting chemical compounds or bring high energy to the process.
For this purpose, we carried out an intense R&D (research and development) stage in the laboratory and in the field, which allowed us to obtain our highly efficient biofilter, that is able to remove contaminants present in gray water and wastewater in a sustainable manner.
OUR VISION

Our technology’s design was optimized to purify the gray water generated by people, thus achieving savings in the consumption of drinking water and encouraging the efficient use of this resource.
Our purpose is to promote, locally and globally, a new conscious way of living with water, increasing water availability for people, avoiding wastewater waste, and finally contributing to circular economy.

We promote a sustainable water cycle on a local scale, with hopes to achieve a macro effect on water conservation in times of drought. We believe that by providing a low-cost, easy to implement system, we can get many people to join this sustainable water cycle and thus bring about a change in our water consumptions habits. Yaku is a startup, created by Chilean scientists, which seeks to mitigate the effects of climate change, by bringing importance to a resource that we continue to waste everyday: gray water.
